For over 40 years, with your support, the Santa Fe Trail Center Museum has played an important role in our community—preserving, protecting, and promoting the history of Pawnee County and the Santa Fe Trail Commerce Route. Countless programs, events, and exhibits have shared our history with thousands of visitors from around the world.
Now the museum is facing major infrastructure repairs to the 43-year-old main building. The septic and sewer had to be replaced this past winter and now the fire alarm system has to be replaced. The cost for these repairs is $150,000. To pay for them the museum had to take out a large loan from First State Bank & Trust Co.
This is just the beginning though. The building’s HVAC system has had $60,000 in repairs in recent years and will continue to have rising maintenance costs unless it is replaced. The price for this is expected to exceed $150,000.
We are asking for your continued support. It is imperative for the museum to raise at least $300,000 to meet the infrastructure needs of the main building.
Donors of $1,500 or greater will be recognized on a Bison shaped wooden plaque with brass engraved nameplates.
